EDUCATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS

As a result of a continuing partnership between ASRC and Farnsley Middle School in West Louisville, students at Farnsley have had the opportunity to learn about space from a NASA astronaut, and to develop and implement an outdoor classroom designed to encourage exploration of the elements of our ecosystem. Also:

FARNSLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL

ASRC supports Farnsley Middle School’s “Robotics” department, Math Lab, “after school” programs (including tutoring, cooking classes and Job Fairs) and summer camps for community kids held at the school.  ASRC employees also serve as volunteer judges for the annual Science Fair at the school and participate in the annual “Middle School Connection” program, which pairs each 7th grade student in Louisville with an adult volunteer career counselor who discusses the importance of staying in school, career interests, high school choices and how reading/writing/math skills are used throughout adult life.

Students at Farnsley work and learn in a state-of-the-art math/computer lab, made possible by an initial $30,000 establishment grant from ASRC and a recent $19,000 upgrade

ASRC provided funding for Farnsley Middle School to purchase 30 robots for use in the school’s new robotics class in 2008

ASRC provides funding for Farnsley’s “after school” programs, as well as for children’s summer activities and camps, organized by Farnsley Middle School’s Community Outreach coordinator for the Shively neighborhood

ASRC employees volunteer as judges each year for the Farnsley Science Fair
